Draka FireTuf Fire Resistant Fibre Optic Cable Range

FS Cables are the only UK stockists for the FireTuf fire resistant fibre optic cable range. These cables have been manufactured by Draka Prysmian using the bend-intensive MaxCap BendBright technology. This means performance levels can be maintained even after rough handling during installation.

Fibre optic cabling is an ideal solution to future proof an installation as it is able to transfer large amounts of data over much greater bandwidths compared to that of traditional copper cabling. It is also able to carry the signal over much longer distances without signal loss.

The range is available in OM1, OM3, OM4 multimode and OS2 singlemode, in 4, 8, 12 and 24 fibre configurations. All feature a central loose tube construction and internal/external LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) sheath. Where mechanical protection is required, a corrugated steel tape armoured version is stocked. The additional armour protects the cable from vandalism and rodent damage.

Firetuf fibre optic cables provide circuit integrity under fire up to 830°C for 120 minutes (EN 50200 PH120). The range also meets the requirements of IEC 60331-25 (fire resistance) and IEC60332-3-24C (flame retardant) making it suitable for installations where continued communications are required in the event of fire. Typical applications include emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, VA (Voice Alarm) systems (Also known as voice evacuation) and in public buildings such as universities, schools and hospitals where safety of people and equipment is paramount.

Fibre is also unaffected by electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it perfect for data transmission in electrically noisy environments.

To complement the range, FS Cables also offer Draka FireTuf OFC-LT-NM and Draka FireTuf OFC-LT-CST fibre optic cables. NM is the non-metallic armoured version whereas CST uses a steel tape armour.

Both have a central loose tube construction and are available in OM1, OM3, OM4 multimode and OS2 singlemode in 24, 36, 48, 72, 96 and 144 fibre counts. A layer of glass yarns is used for reinforcement and additional fire protection, with a waterblocking tape surrounding the cores and internal/external LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) sheaths. These cables are suitable for indoor installations and in ducts outdoors where fire security is a primary concern and there is a risk of damage from rodents.

Available in up to 2,000m reels or cut-to-length, stocked cables are delivered next working day as standard to most of mainland UK.
